Having experienced the tantalizing and
vibrant scenes of Bangkok, Thailand. I thought it only fair to share my
experiences with you. For my first stop in Thailand, following on from India it
was really something else, from the hustle and bustle of Khoa San Road to the
tranquil temples in China Town, Bangkok ticks everyone’s boxes. So here are my
top things to see and do whilst you are there!
Sky Bar (Dome, Silom Road) – Apparently the
world’s highest sky bar in the world and sits on the 64th floor –
maybe not the best for people afraid of heights but it is well worth it trust
me. Dress elegantly or entry will be refused but have no fear – there is of
course a lady with a stall with everything you can imaging to hire out if you
forgot to dress up or even spontaneously decide to visit. I highly recommend
going there, the views as you can probably imagine are out of this world and
lit up at night it truly is beautiful. Enjoy candlelit suppers in the skyline,
or sip on a cocktail. It has a great atmosphere and buzzes, make it the perfect
date with a loved one or friends and family.
China Town – China Town is great to wander
round, getting in amongst the beautifully decorated and adorned temples. Wat
Tramit houses the largest buddha in the world, you cannot really miss this
building as it is white and lined with gold architecture. Also get lost in its
alleys filled with quirks and shopping appeal. At night China Town comes alive
with its street food and vendors. Popular dishes include Dim Sum but we will
talk about the food in general next.
Street Food – You need to try the street
food – it is out of this world and probably one of the cheaper alternatives of
dining whilst staying in Bangkok. The options range from cockroaches and stick
insects – veg fried rice, omelettes to a whole array of famous Thai specialties.
Wat PO - A visit to
Wat Pho is a must for any traveller to Bangkok, it is the home to the Reclining
Buddha which stands at fifteen metres tall and forty six metres long, the feet
alone are measured over five meters. The statue is covered in gold leaf and
looks spectacular. Legend has it that Buddha completed 108 positive actions on
his way to becoming perfect.
Bangkok’s Palace –
This has got to be the most visited attraction in Bangkok and can take a long
time to go around. The building itself is magnificently breath taking and the
history is intriguing. It is a magical experience to behold.
Siam Paragong – If you are into shopping or
a back packer like me who needed to top up some essentials, this shopping
centre or huge shopping centre is up your street! It is impressive but
expensive. I could have happily got lost there, weaving in and out of high
street brand and high end!
Khoa San Road – Ok I personally did not
like Khoa San. I felt like I had stepped into a expensive, tacky and rowdy
British festival. Grab a bucket and go to experience it though and if you are
brave have a munch on some insects!
Songkran – I sadly did not get to partake
in this and I guess I am kind of cheating by putting this on here because I
didn’t experience but my friends raved about this! They said it was the best
fun. The festival is on for a whole day and is basically a giant water fight.
Check dates for this if you want to join in getting wet!
Chatuchak Market – Enjoy wandering and splurging
in the vibrant and colourful weekend market! With thousands of stalls I can
guarantee there will be something that catches your eye.
If you get some wanderlust and fancy a city
vacation – Bankgok is the place. I woud love to hear if you have been and have
some stories to share? Don’t forget to follow on social media for more updates.
