Lifestyle: Bretforton Proms

Hope everyone had a great weekend and what a weekend it was, with great weather! Summer graced us finally and weren't we blessed! I hope you survived Monday today, I am on the other hand still struggling to recover from Saturday's festivities at Bretforton Proms.

What a fun filled day, shared with friends, family and loved ones, in the picturesque village Bretforton. The community spirit was overwhelming and it is lovely to witness the support locals gave back to their beloved village.

Pimms was poured, cider kegs were running low and flags were flying high from the start of the day through to night.

With great performances again from the popular Bretforton silver band, moving and powerful vocals from Marilla Holmes and the beautiful happy, D Day Girls graced the stage for another year to take us through the swing scene in years past. Those were to name a few who entertained the large crowd with sing alongs and provided a great atmosphere to the day.

To top off a warm, magical summers evening was the spectacular and beautiful fireworks as the band played out.

Thank you so much to everyone who put on a great proms yet again and for everyone's hard work! Thank you to the Legion for looking after everyone with a few more drinks and noise when it was finished and roll on another year for the next one!

Have a great week everyone!

Tuesday's Top Ten

Clarins sun cream £30.00

If you are off on your holidays abroad or laying out in the garden catching the rays, do not forget to apply sun lotion. It sounds so simple but so many people forget or do not even bother to use sun cream and for the sake of taking a couple of minutes to apply it, it can save your life. No brainer really. Make sure to invest in a really good one which will protect you from those nasty UV rays. Clinique is a favourite of ours.

Rachel Zoe's Capsule collection available at Net-a-porter

Feel, cool, feminine and light in this beautiful caftan dress from our favourite stylist/designer, Rachel Zoe. Rachel's capsule collection is now up on net-a-porter, have a look and I know you won't be disappointed.

Who doesn't love these inflatables? It seems all the trend setters and celebrities have one and they have gone from flamingos to cute rainbow unicorns. Sadly for us we do not own a pool to home one of these, but if you do or are going away to a villa with a private pool, be sure to get one so you're part of the cool crowd.

A great motivational, self help book to push your drive and encourage women to go and do their very best. This book has been out for a while but it is a top hit here, to get you achieving your dreams.

Pointed Oxford shoes £129.00, Olive clothing. Get some geek chic for everyday or to funk up your office look. We are a little bit obsessed with the style of these shoes right now. Wear with culottes, trousers or skirts and sweater and you are good to go.

Food: Top five healthy cook books

Back to Monday again, hope everyone had a good weekend and made the most of the weather. I think I lost my soul celebrating a friends birthday all weekend and need a week to recover and get some sleep back!

At the moment I have really become obsessed with cooking and being healthy, is a big part of my life and is really becoming a big, fashionable thing in our lives now. Therefore I thought after such a heavy weekend I would share my top five, favourites to help regenerise ourselves and get some health back into our or rather my abused body.

River Cottage Light & Easy by Hugh Fearnely Whittinghall

A great Christmas present (thanks mum), it holds tasty delicious, homely, comforting meals. Like it says on the cover, simple and easy! Also a very pretty book too and I was taken aback because  of the size it was and the amount of recipes that were in there, making it great value for money. A great variety of recipes and brilliant if you are also gluten and lactose free! Now £6.00 on Amazon!

Lean in 15 by Joe Wicks

One man who is on everyone's lips at the moment (pun intended) is the big star of the moment, Joe Wicks. Book one and two are now huge sellers, with tasty, quick nutritional, protein filled meals, designed to be quick and simple. Joe also incorporates a section on simple excercises, that promise to get you fit in no time without necessarily having to use a gym. I am completed addicted to these books at the moment and I think they are on offer in Tesco too. Definitely try all the shakes, they are heavenly, especially Malteser geazer.

Davina McCall 5 weeks to Sugar Free

One of a few cookery books Davina has released and my favourite out of her collection. I chose this because I am a sugar addict, like her everyday at some point or at a lot of points in the day I want to eat sugar. So I purchased this to follow her plan, stop this behaviour but understand it too. With easy, delicious replacement snacks instead of chocolates and sweets, come great recipes the whole family will enjoy. Great as well if you are trying to be on a diet. Instead of using refined sugar, which is bad for us, Davina encourages the use of natural sugar replacements, like honey and maple syrup.

Inspiralized by Ali Maducci

When the huge trend of spiralizing came in a year or two ago, I really got into and using my machine became so much fun. So instead of making my homemade turkey meatballs and courgetti, I decided to invest in this spiralizer cooking book, to inject some more inspirational ideas. Clear information, good pictures and easy, tasty recipes to follow. A great way to learn more about what to spiralize and to get involved with more spiralizing dishes.

Deliciously Ella

Deliciously Ella, which has become another huge culinary hit in the kitchen, with both books selling in vast quantities and a woman and mothers favourite! Good amount of easy, 'delicious' (sorry) recipes, with beautifully, pretty photos. Healthy, nutritious and a great one to have on your shelf. Try her brownie recipes, they are amazing and melt in your mouth. Great if you are gluten, dairy free and want to avoid refined sugars. Allow a bit more cooking and prep time with this one and in the supermarket looking for most of the ingredients.

I really hope my little cookbook list has inspired you or at least motivated you into thinking that maybe you can pull through the Monday slump. Enjoy the rest of the day, I am off for a shake now, maybe a Jos Wilks one.

Lots of love
