Chlobo's Closet Cotswolds: Daylesford and Condicote

Chlobo's Closet hopes all of you had a wonderful weekend. It was a shame the weekend was not blessed with some warm sun but at least a majority of it was dry for a rare change this week.

From a recent visit to our local organic farm;Daylesford I tried a delicious asparagus and Parmesan risotto dish that my friend had ordered. It was so delicious, I have seriously thought about it all week and was looking forward to a little treat. So saturday afternoon I went over with an empty stomach, eager and excited for my risotto lunch. Then it dawned on me that asparagus is a seasonal vegetable and may not be on the menu anymore. I then proceeded to scan the menu numerous times, trying to convince myself that my eyes were wrong and that the risotto was definitely on there somewhere and just hiding.  It was too late, my delicious dish was no longer. I really kicked myself for not ordering it whilst I had the chance or for not going back earlier. It was not the be all and end all, I thoroughly enjoyed my back up; of whelsh rarebit and a heavenly chilli chutney, washed down with a delightful glass of rose. It was lovely to have a wander around the barns and see if there was anything that took my fancy. We were very impressed with the beautiful flower arrangements in the flower barn, incredibly chic, delicate and fresh displays of delicate, seasonal flowers.

If you have not already, you should really arrange a visit to Dayledford Organic Farm. With locally sourced organic products, with pretty presentation and an excellent choice of gifts and home accessories, there is something for everyone. Or just pop over to sample some of the many things from their restaurants. Who knows you might even bump into a celebrity or two. It really has become the hub of the Cotswolds.

Having decided to have a relaxing weekend at home in Condicote. We were fortunate to attend our neighbours 50th birthday party. The sun made an evening appearance and the village was kissed with warm rays. The flowers came out full bloom and it was a great opportunity to enjoy a lovely walk to and from the venue. We had a wonderfully relaxed weekend for once and had a brilliant time.

What did you all do over the weekend? Leave your comments below.

Chlobo's Closet Fashion: Birthday Outfit

So yes as mentioned previously it has been my birthday, I am depressingly getting older. I did decide to celebrate or rather dull the pain with copious amounts of alcohol, with friends and family.

As I spent a few days in Italy, which was fantastic and full of carbs, I thought I would end my birthday on a bang and have a party.

The evening was spent with a small dinner and a few drinks at our favourite local; The Fleece. I say a few drinks, I think I purchased six bottles of prosecco. Clearly as you get older, you buy your own drinks.

My outfit was quite basic and I recycled one of my favourite dresses from American Apparel, which I think I have only worn once. I love the peachy colour and that it is simple but cut to reveal a little bit of naughty flesh, raising the sexy factor a little bit. My partner is not too keen on it but it is not that revealing.

To avoid the British chill in the evening, I teamed it with a gorgeously, chic jacket I brought from Zara, in Italy. It is amazing and incredibly versatile.

To finish it off, I wore it with my platform, suede boots that I have had for years now and no I did not fall or stumble once.
Clearly I have reached pro level in towering heels.

Hope you liked my outfit, I did quite like it for a last minute choice. What outfits do you were on your birthday? Leave your comments below.

Lots of love

Chlobo's Closet Fashion: Italy's Wardrobe

As you are aware I was fortunate to visit Italy and being extremely organised and excited I pre planned my outfits accordingly of course to take with me.

A month before I scanned Vogue Italia and scanned Pinterest for recent Italian fashion both on the catwalk and street style. With my Italian fashion board set up (which you can see on Chlobo's Closet's Instagram page) I felt prepared to start pulling all my pieces.

My leather studded, Versace jacket was an absolute must, leopard skirts inspired by Roberto Cavalli and floral numbers as seen at Dolce and Gabbana's show.

So below are a couple of my favourite picks that came in my very glamorous and fun Lulu Guinness Luggage.

Probably one of my favourite outfits out of the collection. A really simple, fun but elegant evening choice, on a warm spring evening. The jacket is of course Versace, which is delicately embellished with gold studs. My bohemian crop top, which is a tiny crop top (as seen on Kendall Jenner also, clearly we have good taste) is from Nasty Gal. The pleated midi skirt, which always makes me feel very ladylike and has been mentioned on here before is from Missguided at £28.00. The bag is Chanel and finishing off the look, in a very low heel for walking over the cobbles, are my very comfy River Island pumps.

A new purchase, which was not necessarily for this trip but I really do love it! A lace, white short sleeved maxi, from Sister Jane. It was so comfy in the heat and very girly. I did not over accessorize as the dress is a statement in itself, but I added a pearl collar around the neckline, to cover the black collar, lining up. The sandals were from Zara, which I had to buy out there, as I was not quite so prepared for the heat and my feet were swelling up, which was very uncomfortable and not a good look.

I have always loved this easy to wear tea dress. It is actually quite a good few years old now but it is always a favourite of mine. It was a limited edition from Peacocks, by Pearl Lowe and it is very pretty and delicate, with a minimal approach. It was such a good choice to wear to the Vatican because it covers my shoulders up, out of respect, whilst offering me a cool, glamorous look.

I did not spend the whole trip taking photographs of my outfits, as I was too involved in falling in love with Rome. I  hoped you enjoyed my collection though and get inspiration for you own city break. My pointers for packing are, plan and lay out all your outfits including accessories to avoid over packing, if you have a luggage allowance. Secondly, research where you might be going on the trip, take something that covers you up and is practical if you might be going to a religious place. Thirdly check the ground conditions, so you know what shoes to take, you could end up going on hikes or leisurely walking for long periods which in the wrong shoes will hurt and cause damage to your feet.

Happy holidays everyone.

Chlobo's Closet Travel: Rome, Italy

To soften the blow of turning a year older, we thought we would use it as an excuse for taking off for a long, relaxing trip to Rome. I have always wanted to explore and visit Italy, and one big factor is that it is the home of my favourite food and drink Prosecco, with the addition of fabulous culture and stunning sites.

We managed to find a reasonable five star hotel on the outskirts, I say reasonable because it really was on the outskirts, which is why a five star was so cheap. Looking back it would have been better to have down graded to a three or two star in the city centre. It was a great leg and bum workout though, ten minute walk to the tube station and approximately ten minutes on the tube and we arrived in the centre by the Colosseum.

After a long day of travelling there, we ventured out of our hotel after walking around for an hour trying to find it and having finally got our bearings headed to the tube station. As it was the closest and most obvious place to go to first, we went straight to Colosseo (one guess as to what building is there). As soon as I stepped off the tube and stepped outside, we were immediately graced with the grandeur of the Colosseum. It was incredibly overwhelming, surreal and breath taking. After all these years, hearing all the historic stories and films made about this building and I am stood in front of it. The atmosphere outside was warm and electric, you could sense other tourists' excitement in the air. In the warmth of the evenings air, hand in hand, off we strolled along the cobbles. I am glad someone pre warned me not to take heels because of the cobbles there. We wandered around in search of course for a bar to celebrate our arrival and to kick start a fun filled, romantic vacation. To my glee we found a great place where we sipped on Prosecco and quite a few (albeit maybe a tad too many) cocktails. To my joy we discovered Prosecco was always the cheapest alcoholic beverage on the menu, so I was incredibly chuffed about that, Joshua not so much. It was a great evening to head onto great things and new adventures.

We woke early for an authentic Italian breakfast, which we did everyday of our stay. Which featured, delectable cold meats, cheese, pastries and superbly strong coffee, to kick start the day. Being incredibly organised I had pre booked tickets for the Colosseum and the Vatican spread across the days we were there. I seriously recommend doing this before hand, unless you want to spend your whole time queuing for hours. The days we did not have anything booked, we spent leisurely walking around the city, taking in the beautifully adorned architecture of the buildings and soaking up as much culture as we could.

As mentioned on the one day, we did book the Colosseum and this really does take a whole day, if you include the grounds and ruins. A wonderful day well spent though, throughout our visit of the site, I had vivid images of grand gladiators preparing for fights and charging around, with Royal Caesar's gracing the building to watch the events. It was magnificent, finally stepping onto such famous grounds and seeing such an incredible history before you. Of course you know it is a terribly grand venue but nothing quite prepares you for the real size that it is.

The Vatican City was remarkable, the architecture and carvings on the building were stunning. Beautiful white statues and carvings, graced the Basilica and the crowds, looking like small ants in comparison filled the square. The sun was shining and it took us a good part of the day to walk around the grounds, making our slow approach towards the Sistine Chapel. I am a huge art lover so I was in paradise, having my eyes scan over detailed paintings by the famous painter Michaelangelo. When you finally arrive at the Sistine Chapel and look up to such a grand, high ceiling, painted with such colour and depth, you think you have died and gone to heaven itself. Everyone was in awe, please note that I unfortunately do not have any photographs as it was forbidden. The remaining part of the day we walked around the museums there and tried to take it all in. To top it all off during our vacation here and a little bit of research we witnessed the Pope out of his window, addressing us among many people in the crowd for twenty minutes. I am not very clued up on the Italian language, apart from the basics, so we could not understand really what he was saying but we got the general gist of it. The atmosphere was palpable, intense and exciting, it was quite an emotional experience and one we will not forget.

Of course we saw the other popular tourist hot spots; The Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon, etc. without planning. Rome is a very easy city to find your way around and a lot of it we happened to stumble upon whilst walking.

I adored Rome, there was never a bad restaurant or bar, with the food out of this world. I know the gym will be calling my name now we are back.

The atmosphere of the entire city is humble and vibrant, with a friendly, relaxed ,warmth to its nature. All the buildings are a dance on the eyes, captivating you and pulling you in. I certainly cannot wait to go back to this enchanting capital!

Next time on the blog I will be giving a run down on my Italian wardrobe picks!

Lots of Love or arrivederci
