Fashion: Organising your wardrobe

Sadly it is officially Autumn, now do not get me wrong I am all for the love of the beautiful array of autumnal colours but I will always be a girl who needs the suns warmth.

This means that it is time for me to turn my wardrobe around. Yes, every season I pull out all my summer clothes and pack them neatly away in my chests and unpack my winter wardrobe from the previous autumn/winter. It is a great space saver and it feels like you have a whole new wardrobe to play with and to discover all the things you loved.

By doing this, it is the perfect opportunity to organise, de clutter and arrange my fall  collection.

I thought I would share with you my top tips for an organised wardrobe.

1. As mentioned above, dividing your clothes into seasons and packing away what you won't wear, will be great on space. Let's face it, are you going to  wear those Levi's hot pants when it is snowing in December?

2. Coat hangers. I try to make sure all my coat hangers are the same ones. The velvet ones are perfect, as they hang your clothes nicely and are non slip. They are skinny too, so if they are all the same size, width etc, they won't take up too much room. The velvet ones are usually very reasonable in price and can be brought for £2-3 in packs from Primark or Homesense. I like to use the clip coat hangers for hanging skirts or trousers, to avoid creases.

3. Display your favourite items where you can. My ideas usually vary and I like to create different display variations. At the moment I enjoy stacking bags and shoes on top of some of my favourite books. It brings some personality and interest to your wardrobe or room.

4. Organise your items into categories that work for you. For example, I hang all my dresses together, skirts, blouses, tops and I lay my tshirts and jumpers in my drawers. Split again into day and night, i.e. day dresses and night dresses. This makes it much easier to find things and mix your look up.

5. Shoes I organise into heels, flats and trainers. I put one facing toward me and one away to save room but so you can still see the design. I usually have my flats placed somewhere easily accessible, as they are more what I tend to wear.

6. Hats, I place on mannequins, my vintage ones are in pretty hat boxes and baseball caps are stacked on a shelf.

7. I like to hang my jewellery on pretty much anything. I drape necklaces over my scarves, mirrors and in pretty trinket bowls. I like to see pretty much everything I own in front of me, so I know what I can wear.

I hope you enjoyed some helpful and handy hints. Enjoy finding your treasures you might have forgotten and carry on creating new looks.

Lots of love,

Travel:Gokarna, India

If there is any place I can truly recommend, it would be Gokarna, on the western coast of India.

A fairly long days taxi ride from Hampi, followed by a traditional cramped, adrenaline filled tuk tuk lift to Om beach. Peeling ourselves off of the roof of the tuk tuk and trying to push and pull our huge bags out, we finally saw the serene, picturesque beach.

A beautiful beach, with white gold sand, that is unspoiled, untouched and flowing with tranquility. Along the stretch of beach, it has probably no more than ten guesthouses, (this could have changed) dotted along. The guest houses cater for all, from low cost to more expensive. Be prepared to share bathrooms etc with other guests for the cheaper options.

Walking along carrying our incredibly heavy bags, under the scorching sun, we eventually found a lovely guesthouse, with a private beach shack, which was incredibly sweet. A poster bed, complete with mosquito net - practical, necessary but also makes you feel a little like a royal. An outdoor hammock for snoozing in or reading a book in the afternoons, because sunbathing on the beach is just too much hard work.

Om beach is peaceful and quiet, waking up feels like you are still asleep and in a dream. It feels too good to be true. Waking up to pure shores, warmth, and dolphins swimming in the shimmering sea, whilst you are eating your fresh fruit for breakfast. It feels unreal. It is a true paradise, of clean sands, banana and coconut trees and a picturesque place to enjoy.

Spend days sun basking, or swimming in the lukewarm sea, warm enough to be a bath and enjoy fresh fruit purchased from the locals. Come night time, you might be lucky enough to swim with the plankton and see the sea around and beneath you light up from your movements. It felt like being in Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Please do not partake in this activity on your own though, as it is dangerous swimming in the vast pitch black and Gorkana is known for its dangerous currents.

If you get itchy feet and can’t sit/lay around a lot, you can always take in the vibrant, colourful little town, a very short tuk tuk ride away. It has a couple of gift shops, food stalls and really necessities. It is lovely to take a walk around and meet the locals and embrace the atmosphere. Take a look at the magnificent temple chariot, that was once pulled by elephants in the centre.

The food again, cannot be faulted. All the guesthouses and restaurants produce superb, traditional meals and they are an incredibly reasonable cost.

If you are on holiday this is a perfect place to visit or if you are backpacker, you will meet people here also. It really does have something for everyone and we met some amazing people and made some tremendous memories. If only we could shut our eyes and go back to the dream.
